We have come to the end of our journey through Paul’s letter to the Ephesians. His farewell reminds us that he was writing this letter from prison to his dear friends and that he wanted to make absolutely sure that they were prepared to face whatever the future had in store for them. Let’s consider for a moment how he expected God to work in their lives. Let’s hope for those same things in our lives. May we have a peaceful tranquility of heart that is not overly troubled by our circumstances or our disappointments. May we have a trust in the presence and the plan of God in our lives. May we see this faith continue to grow in our hearts day by day until it is time for us to make our last journey across the veil of tears. May we feel the acceptance of the Lord that comes from knowing that He looks on us through the eyes of grace. Finally, may we have a continual experience of the love of God that is pure and true. May it so attune our hearts to His love that we can never be satisfied with any of the hollow substitutes that the world may offer us. And may all of this so move our hearts that we return that love to Him and shower it upon our fellow men. Amen.
